The early church was persecuted by the government of it’s day. Christians worshiped in secret, in underground tunnels and burial places, called catacombs, to avoid arrest and execution for their faith. In many countries the church of Jesus Christ is still underground. Even in America liberty is slipping away and persecution and oppression is becoming widespread. Believers are losing their jobs, careers, businesses and freedoms for standing true to the faith.
